Echoes of Forgotten Shadows

A bell tolls beneath the ruined church and shakes the ground. In the cellar the party finds Holloway entranced beside the bell with a giant maul across his lap. Near the church he begins to remember the town's old name, Morning Rise, and the church's dark history. The farther from the church they take him, the more he forgets, until in the tavern he introduces himself anew.

Easter Ashwell storms out when La Maestra sings about Morning Rise, then tells the party how the church took over the mine after a pure gold vein was found. Mother Vee, shown a glowing shell, remembers her late husband Mehmet Vance and her own name, Violet, and retreats in tears. Aelion raises the old toast, and for the first time nearly everyone answers. The party follows Easter into the mine and is attacked by mummies behind the foreman's door.
